Mary Washington: The Girl Strangling Ghost

This story is set several years ago on the campus of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, Virginia. On this campus is an all-girls freshman dorm known as Virginia Hall. It's an old building, one of the primary buildings on the campus.
The story starts with a pair of roommates on the second floor of the dorm towards the front. Both girls had been seeing a guy walking down the hallway near their room. Neither one of them wanted to say anything because they believed they had both been seeing things and since they didn't know each other very well, neither one wanted to be the "freaky" roommate.
One night, one of the roommates woke up randomly in the middle of the night. Looking over at her roommate, she saw the figure of a man leaning over her with his hands around her neck trying to strangle the girl. The woken up roommate began to scream which woke up the girl and the ghost disappeared. The girl claimed she felt nothing but on her neck were large red marks. Both girls refused to sleep in the room until a Catholic priest was brought in to successfully excorcise the ghost.

College campuses and the ghostly population

I decided to start this blog partly out of boredom and partly out of frustration. The boredom part comes from being trained as an resident assistant at my college and having nothing to do. The frustration part comes out of trying to go online to find college campus ghost stories to beat out all the other girls in our "ghost story competition." So what I've decided to do is research as many different ghost stories that I can find from colleges all over the nation.
It's interesting to find a ghost story about your campus, some "otherworldy" being living amongst you and your friends in your residence halls, or watching you as you walk through campus. And it's always fun to be able to beat your friends out in a ghost story game.
